Le dee Iside e Nefti

The goddesses Isis and Nephthys, of whom one of the epithets is 'the two mourners', acquired predominantly funerary attributes due to their role in the search for and recomposition of Osiris' body. The goddess Isis was depicted with a throne on her head; indeed, it seems that she was originally, as her name indicates, the personification of the royal throne. The goddess Nephthys, sister of Isis and Osiris, sister and wife of Seth and mother of Anubis, was depicted as a woman with the hieroglyphic representation of the palace on her head. Nephthys was in fact called nebet hewet 'the lady of the palace'.
