The god Thot

Detail. The Ibis-headed god Thot was one of the most important Egyptian deities. An astronomer and magician, he had many facets and numerous epithets, one of which described him as 'the strongest of gods'. Thot was also 'the Lord of Books', of sacred texts as the inventor of hieroglyphics and scribe par excellence. His brides were the goddess Seshat, goddess of writing, and Heqat, the frog goddess worshipped at Abydos.
