Ramesses III in an act of adoration

Detail. Ramesses III in the act of adoration. The pharaoh wears the yellow bonnet headdress consisting, as its name suggests, in a sort of cap clinging to the skull and stopped on the forehead and behind the nape of the neck by a strip of fabric. The origin and meaning of this headdress, as well as the historical moment of its first appearance, are obscure.
