False door of the mastaba of Qar

False door of the mastaba of Qar. During the ancient kingdom, the false door was a central element inside Egyptian tombs. It was considered the crossing point between the world of the living and the world of the dead. In front of it, carved into the floor, was the hetep sign indicating the exact spot where offerings for the deceased were to be presented.
