Gheronteion and Primo Pritaneo

The city's oldest Pritaneum, dating from the end of the 6th century BC, was built on the Agora to the east of the archaic temenos of Apollo Archegeta. The building was constructed from scratch on the south, east and north sides, while the fourth (west) used part of the eastern wall of the peribolos. The building consists of two rooms running lengthwise: the front one, preceded by a low flight of steps, was probably colonnaded.
