Temple of Demeter and Kore

Hellenistic shrine of Demeter and Kore, in the Agora . The cult statues depict the goddesses enthroned and dressed in chiton and himation, veiled capite. The two statues now standing in the aedicule, on the other hand, are believed to be images of female devotees or cult workers The original layout of the sanctuary dates back to the mid 3rd century B.C.
