Myrtle Enclosure and Temple of the Paired Hosts

In the foreground, the Recinto del Mirto; in the background on the left, the Tempietto degli Ostostati Appaiati. The Myrtle Enclosure was rectangular in shape, lacking a roof covering and internally equipped with a triple series of pillars set against the walls. The Myrtle Enclosure was the site of the sacred grove that, according to sources, protected the hierogamy of the god Apollo and the nymph Cyrene.
