Theatre 4

Theatre 4 was built after the earthquake of 365 AD. The cavea lay on the slope of the hill immediately north of the Agora; it was divided, by four steps, into wedges of varying widths and was supported to the north by walls. The frons scenae was rectilinear, as in Greek theatres. Behind the stage building, along the road at the bottom of the valley, ran a colonnaded portico closed to the east by an exedra, which was accessed from the road by means of a flight of steps.
