Allegory of Scripture

On the four walls of the hall are frescoed allegories depicting the nine muses, interspersed with representations of illustrious men and landscape scenes. This female figure in particular is the allegory of writing. She is seated (in a false niche) with a book and pen. Behind her is the coat of arms of the Sforza family of Santa Fiora (rampant lion with quince branch).
