In the triangular spaces of the porticos of the forum, between arch and arch, were large medallions with Gorgon or Nereid heads. All the heads are different from each other, their eyes having a heart-shaped pupil. The Gorgons have a 'necklace' of snakes, and the Nereids have eyebrows shaped like fish fins.
