Nymphaeum

On the south-eastern side, a Nymphaeum was erected, i.e. a large monumental fountain with a large semicircular exedra containing the water basin. The masonry of this fountain was decorated, on the front side of the square, by rows of superimposed columns, with niches for statues, which compare with the frontescene of Roman theatres.
