PREVIEW Representation of a bride's initiation rite into the Dionysian cult. The wall is divided into rectangular spaces with a cinnabar red background. On the inside there are further panels, formed by thin lines, and on the outside there are bands of green marble. In addition, all spaces are separated by purplish-coloured pilasters. The cycle is in the 2nd style, made by an anonymous Campanian on a Hellenistic model. megalography. It corresponds to scene no. III and shows the moment of the young initiate's dressing before her encounter with Dionysus. Around a table are three women. Of these, the one seated from behind represents the priestess preparing for the sacrificial ceremony, assisted by the two handmaids. On the left is a woman with a laurel twig on her head holding a tray with food as sacred offerings, intended for the initiate to whom the rite is dedicated.
