Matteo Perez painted thirteen frescoes in the Grand Master's Palace in Valletta on the great siege of Malta in May 1565 by the Turkish troops of Suleiman the Magnificent. This is one of the works that introduced Mannerism to Malta. In this fragment we see the batteries at the Castilian and Alemannic Posts on 9 July 1565.
