Matteo Perez painted thirteen frescoes in the Grand Master's Palace in Valletta on the great siege of Malta in May 1565 by the Turkish troops of Suleiman the Magnificent. This is one of the works that introduced Mannerism to Malta. This in particular is the scene of the 'Little Help', an expedition organised by the Duchy of Savoy to bring provisions to the inhabitants of Malta.
