Detail of the mosque of Abu El-Abbas al-Mursi

The mosque of Abu al-Abbas al-Mursi is located in the city of Alexandria, Anfushi district, and dedicated to the Andalusian Sufi saint of the same name who lived during the 13th century and moved to Alexandria where he died. Much of today's mosque was built over his tomb in 1775 by the Algerians and became one of the city's most beautiful and famous mosques. During the 19th century it was rebuilt by two Italian architects Eugenio Valzania and Mario Rossi. The building is covered in cream-coloured artificial stone and decorated with arabesques, two entrances, one to the north and one to the east. A minaret and four domes are placed above the four mausoleums inside the complex. The interior is richly decorated with marble flooring and granite columns.
