Detail of the south side of the ceiling: Sennedjem in adoration of the gods of the West and the snake.

This detail depicts a scene taken from §108 of the Book of the Dead, which describes the punishment of the Apophis snake by Seth. This explains the side representation of a snake on the sign of the horizon. Above this, using the remaining space on this side of the panel, sits an anonymous god against a red background. The area is surmounted by a sign for the sky. In front of this, Sennedjem pays tribute to two anonymous deities of the West sitting on the sign of Maat. The first deity has the long snout of a dog, white speckled with black.
